Richard Forbes Gardening is a privately owned Dunedin-based garden maintenance and makeover company.

It is owned and run by Richard Forbes, who has been looking after gardens in the wider Dunedin area for almost two decades.

A graduate of the University of Otago with a BSc in botany, Richard’s extensive horticultural career includes six years working in prestigious gardens in London and another 20 years of looking after large and small gardens in Dunedin.

Co-director of Neville Stewart Landscaping from 2004 to 2018, Richard then formed a sister company, Richard Forbes Gardening (initially Neville Stewart Gardening), to cater for the increasing gardening needs of Dunedin’s many beautiful private gardens.

Richard runs a team of five, all of whom are either graduates of the Dunedin Botanic Gardens apprenticeship programme or polytechnic horticultural courses. No-one is employed who is not trained, qualified and experienced—they all know their weeds from their wildflowers.

This is a team of people who not only know what they are doing, they love what they do!
